"I kinda just prefer listening instead of talking."

"I find it easier to talk to people through writing because there’s more time to think about it."

E: I just find it troublesome. I guess when I was younger I was more open to the idea of talking to people. I thought everyone was more open generally so I felt I could be more open. As I got older people got more complicated. And then I began to realize that talking really isn’t all that fun. You have to know certain things, like social cues. And also I don’t really have anything interesting to say or a mutual point of interest that my conversation would be fine with. I don’t have any interesting stories to tell like [my friend] usually does. Like at PE, I talked to some people and there’s usually pockets of empty silence and it’s kind of awkward a little bit sometimes or usually it’s just me but usually I don’t like talking or socializing or interacting with people.

Bella: I’m one of those people who’s socially awkward until I’m not. So I’m not really great at approaching people and making friends but once I am your friend you’re stuck with me. I mate for life. It’s difficult to sort of navigate different kinds of relationships. Someone you’ve known for five years, you can do whatever. But it’s not necessarily about meeting someone. It’s like when do you hang out for the first time? When do you ask for their phone number?

I remember E*** used to have a phone before I did so I used to use my dad’s phone to text her. So it was easier when I used to text her because I didn’t have to ask her. I think she gave it to me because we were having a playdate or something and my dad just wanted her phone number.

Honestly see I’m one of the people who wants to make new friends but doesn’t. And when it does, it just happens.

E*** used to sit next to me in third grade. I remember she used to paint her nails like nebulas. First of all its like because you already have your friends and everybody else already has their friends.
