Peace of Life

|

“I know I’m great, but sometimes someone has to remind me I’m great.”
Million Little Program Participant (RICKY), 21

Our youth contain amazing ideas, they just need someone willing to listen. When RICKY entered our Transitional Age Youth, we were immediately impressed by his sharp entrepreneurial thinking and community minded spirit. In his first session, he sketched out the logo for the bakery he plans to open one day.

“It’s called Peace of Life. You know how you have a slice of pie? I want it to be a play on that. The cafe will have non-GMO organic or vegan goods and it will be a piece of life.”

RICKY has continued to showcase his strengths throughout the program, demonstrating confidence, calmness, and the desire to motivate others to reach their potential. Speaking of his journey to conquering his own anger he said, “Once you know better, you do better.” Now nicknamed “Peace”, RICKY serves as an example for others who are looking to find healthier ways to cope with life’s circumstances. But as he said in the quote above, sometimes self-confidence is not the only tool you need to succeed. Having the support and mentorship of others can remind us all of our greatness and help us channel it into success.
